Sticky Chicken Sedgwings

The best kinds of good don’t need cutlery!

Who wants to be in the kitchen for hours before the guests arrive? With this Sedgwick’s Original Old Brown recipe you won’t have to! It’s a super simple sticky chicken wing recipe that we like to call “Sedgwings”. It can be a served as a finger licking snack, or as a main meal that can be the perfect partner for French fries, or if you want to be health conscious opt for a garden salad, fresh vegetables or even crunchy slaw.

Celebrate over a hundred years of Sedgwick’s Old Brown with these original and mouth-watering sticky chicken wings.

Cooking Time: 40 – 50 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 5 ml garlic — cloves, crushed
  • 5 ml fresh ginger
  • 125 ml soy sauce
  • 125 ml apricot jam
  • 180 ml Sedgwick’s Old Brown
  • 30 ml honey
  • 5 ml sesame oil
  • 5 ml Chinese five-spice powder
  • 8-10 chicken wings

Method

  • Combine all the ingredients except the chicken in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add the chicken wings and leave them to marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Shake off the excess marinade and place the wings on the baking tray.
  • Keep the marinade. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes until golden brown and sticky, baste twice in between with the marinade.
